Upon signing this release, I hereby agree to serve as a volunteer for the event “The Gilded Garden”, coordinated by Butte Humane Society. I am prepared to receive orientation, training, and supervision in order to devote my time and effort to this organization and this event.

Volunteer Requirements & Expectations:

All volunteers are required to attend a mandatory training session on Thursday, September 11th, 2025 at 5:00 PM.

Volunteers must arrive at the event dressed in the required attire: white button-down shirt, black slacks, and black closed-toe shoes.

Please note: a meal will not be provided during the event. Volunteers are encouraged to eat beforehand and bring water or snacks if needed.

I understand that neither Butte Humane Society nor the event venue or its proprietors are responsible for any illness or injury incurred while volunteering, including any injury or illness caused by animals I may come into contact with during the event. I hereby agree to release, indemnify, and hold harmless Butte Humane Society, the venue, and all associated officers, directors, agents, and affiliates from any and all claims, damages, or liabilities arising from or related to my volunteer activities for this event.

WHEREAS, the undersigned volunteer (“Volunteer”) acknowledges:

Butte Humane Society is a non-profit corporation serving animals in Butte County, CA;

One of the organization’s core missions is to provide non-lethal solutions to companion animal overpopulation;

Animals in shelter environments may experience stress that can lead to unpredictable behavior.

NOW, THEREFORE, in consideration of the above, and of Butte Humane Society’s reliance on this waiver and release, the Volunteer agrees to the following:

I assume full responsibility for any injuries sustained while volunteering for Butte Humane Society.

I assume full responsibility for any and all medical costs associated with any injury, whether at or away from the event site, subject to my own medical insurance coverage or that of my employer.

I grant Butte Humane Society permission to use my image, likeness, and/or voice in photographs and video recordings for use in publications, websites, and other promotional materials. I understand that these materials become the property of Butte Humane Society and may be used without compensation or further approval.

Additionally, I understand that I may have access to confidential information, including but not limited to donor, volunteer, staff, and animal records. I agree to maintain confidentiality during and after my involvement as a volunteer. Disclosure of confidential information is strictly prohibited and may result in dismissal or further action.

Lastly, I understand that volunteering for this special event does not constitute formal volunteer status with Butte Humane Society and does not permit me to work with animals on or off BHS property outside of this event.

By signing below, I acknowledge that I have read and understood the above statements and agree to all terms and conditions.
